Jeff ran as fast as he could down the small, dark alley. Behind him was an officer looking to end a week long investigation and man hunt for Jeff, a boy who recently turned 18 and had be in and out of juvenile detention for most of his young life. The crime he committed wasn't the worst a guy could have done but it rattled the community. Jeff held a gas station attendant at gun point and made off with a rather small prize, $50.
Behind him, closing in fast, was Fernando, a well respected and highly regarded officer. About 45 years old, he had started on the force around age 25. A few rough patches led him to a switch of sides, rather him putting people away behind bars instead of looking through them himself. Fernando had been on Jeff's case for the week, as it was dropped on his desk to handle. Through some research and private channels, he was able to locate Jeff's stomping grounds. The rest was up to chance, being at the right place at the right time. And today was that day.
