Alan couldn't recall ever having a day where he felt the strange mix of boredom and trepidation as he did the day he spent at Ben's house after being grown back to size. Ben had jokingly apologized about the state of the place before running out the door for his morning classes, telling Alan he'd be back in plenty of time that night to make sure everything went smoothly if the antidote failed as it had before. Not wanting to seem ungrateful, Alan had accepted every bit of the plan, and then found himself alone in Ben's house, for hours, with next to nothing to do. Feeling hungry, he had raided the fridge, and shrugged as he grabbed a beer with the motley assortment of other foods he found, thinking that he was allowed a little bit of day drinking after what he had been through.
Alan was struck while eating how humble a place Ben really had. He compared it to his house in his mind, he had been making enough money with his cam site to live the good life, as far as college housing went. He had a three bedroom home near campus all to himself, and enough money to pimp the place out with brand new furniture, appliances, everything he wanted. In comparison, it was obvious that the majority of Ben's belongings had come from second hand stores, or even worse from dumpster diving at the end of semesters for other students' throwaways. His couch had next to no support left, and was fraying at every seam, stuffing coming out at a few different places. His coffee table had a large chunk missing from a side, surely where Ben had stumbled into it at one point. The TV barely got good signal, and had only the local stations, something that Alan was extremely unfamiliar with. He found himself wondering if perhaps Ben really did need the cam money more than he did... but then remembered that he was still angry about how everything had gone down, it was still Ben's fault he was where he was right now, wasn't it?
