To really know a man, you need to be under his foot. At least, that is what I tell myself. It wasn't something I preached years ago, when, just like you, I could walk, talk and be my own human. But, funny things happen to a man when changed from a living person to a living insole. Besides the bit of advice before, avoid getting caught up with gangs if you do not want to cushion a gang banger's sole. Or, if that's heaven to you, make sure you find the right gang that won't put bullets through you.
Unfortunately, that chapter in my life is over. My previous owner, José, didn't last long on the streets. Sure, I kept his foot comfortable for a few years but when bullets fly, they take down anything in their path, that path leading right to José.
Thankfully my story didn't end there. After years under a man's sole, you begin to love it, need it, feel fulfilled by it. I wasn't changing back ever again so embracing such a life would be my only choice. And slowly, after many foot steps, it became my life and honestly, I wouldn't give it up.
