Jacob was not the best soccer player. In fact, he often wondered how he managed to get on the team at all. He wasn't exactly weak, but compared to the other players, he wasn't anything special. He was 5'3, somewhat lean, with skinny legs and a thin frame. He looked fairly young for his age too; a smooth, round face, bright blue eyes, and short, neatly cropped blond hair. He looked like he belonged in the school's choir rather than on the soccer field.
Yet, for some reason, despite doing poorly during tryouts, his coach chose him to be on the team. Jacob was ecstatic, but also rather nervous. He'd never been on a soccer team before. He tried his best to make friends with his teammates, not realizing what a terrible mistake it would be. Nearly everyone else on his team towered over him, and most everyone ignored him. There were three who did acknowledge him every day, but not in a good way.
