I had classes late in the morning on Mondays. With my hangover, it was just possible to shower, dress, and get myself to class so long as I didnt try thinking too hard or looking at the sun. I was sitting through a lecture on atomic power when I suddenly remembered Dan the Man and his growth spurt last night. As soon as the class was over, I hurried back to the house where, surprisingly, everything seemed quiet.
The living room was still a mess, and the air was stale and foul. Cans and cups, like autumn leaves, had blown into the corners that grew darker in the autumn afternoon. I could faintly hear Luke and Brian arguing over a video game in the basement and then the squeak and hiss of a shower upstairs. Walking past the stinking kitchen, I thought I could still hear snoring from down the hall. Footsteps on the stairs nearby distracted me, and I looked to see who was descending.
