James was standing on his kitchen table. No, it wasn’t his kitchen table, it was his father’s. He could hear his old man thumping down the hallway. Probably just waking up from a night of binge drinking. The towering figure stomped into the kitchen in just a pair of white briefs and his dark body hair to cover him. He paused in the doorway, his bearded face breaking into a smile.

“Hey there, runt.” His gravely voice came forth. “That’s a good look for you. Screwed up another one of your science experiments, I’ll reckon.”

James nodded in response.

“Ah, don’t look so glum, boy. Daddy will take care of you.” His dad (Jim) opened the refrigerator and remove a gallon of milk taking a couple of swigs directly from the carton before replacing it and shutting the door. “Well, let’s have a look at you then.”
