Alex fought his way through the mall as fast as the crowds would allow him to. It was the 11th of December and true to form he had waited to do any shopping until it was almost a guarantee that the stores would be over crowded, and being a person who hated crowds in all their forms, Alex was about ready to jump over the railing and plummet down all 4 stories of the mall and just be done with it. He had found that he could move quickest through the shopping center if he hugged said railing, so he chose to hold his bags uncomfortably high and walk as quickly as he could manage.
He was quite pleased to have found what he was now calling the express lane He looked over the railing down to the lower floors and saw the hundreds and hundreds of people on the floors below him. He cringed, and turned his head back in the direction he was walking just in time to run into a wall of red velvet. The collision caused his arms to flail sending the packages and bags he was carrying flying from his grasp and he watched in horror as they flew over the railing and out of sight. Some gasps, screams, yells, and of course the inevitable sound of the gifts hitting the floor with various thuds and shatters rose from below, and Alex felt his body go limp in defeat.
