The Farm - Part 2

“I can’t believe it took you guys this long to notice,” Will said.We were up in the TV room. The Wheelers had gone to bed and I was wearing a new, baggy tee-shirt and pajama pants from the closet. An adult medium! It was my first time thinking of myself as anything close to an average-sized man, and I was having a hard time absorbing what the others were saying.At 6’5”, Will was the oldest and the biggest of the farmhands, with a thick rugby player’s build, the beginnings of a beer belly, and a wide, thick ass that completely overtook any chair he sat in. His size, he explained, wasn’t a coincidence. This was his second summer working here, and when he’d first arrived on property the previous year he’d been barely six feet tall. But there was something about the farm that made the interns who worked there grow--it happened to all the farmhands, summer after summer. Most guys grew up to five inches between June and August, sometimes as many as six. The Wheelers were well aware but didn’t like to talk about it for fear of attracting the wrong kind of attention.
