Jake moved around the garden, driving stakes in the dirt to mark the spots to dig for the wooden posts. He and another worker finished these up quick. It was best to save the easiest for last. Next was lunch. Just in time too, since his stomach grumbled and he noticed some of the other guys heading out as well.
The choice spot was a food truck just a block up the street that served cheap sandwiches, burgers and fries. One block up, across the street, and Jake spotted the familiar truck. He grinned with friendly familiarity at the man standing outside with a spent cigarette.
Hows it going, Chuck? Chucks head looked over at him, likewise grinning. He quickly tossed the cig butt to the ground and climbed back in the truck.
The truck vendors voice was much thicker New York than Jakes as he leaned on the inset counter and smiled at Jake.
