Polyphemus (Paul-EE-feh-moose)

Did you ever read The Odyssey? Do you remember Polyphemus, the giant who ate several of Odysseus’s men? He lived in Egypt, on an island in the Nile Delta, and was a Nubian giant. He was not a one eyed Cyclops either- Homer misled the account of his single eye. Remember Homer went there to research his story- but he was blind and while he spent some intimate time with Polyphemus, he was mistaken about the large head he groped. He escaped Polyphemus because the giant wasn't hungry and loved the stories Homer told.

The one eyed monster was his penis, and efforts of Odysseus's men to push a pole into it were not to blind him, but to indulge one of his many sexual fetishes. After he ate one or two soldiers, he became horny, feeling them squirm in his stomach. The soldiers who paid attention to and played with the giant's penis after he ate put themselves last in line to be eaten, and that bought Odysseus and them time to figure out an escape.
