Jack was frustrated. He had made several attempts to talk to Isabelle, but she was ignoring him.

Jack sat on the table in the living room of the house that Tom, George, and Henry shared. Tom had built miniature homes for Isabelle and Roger out of thin yet sturdy wood - simple structures, just one room each, yet enough to make them feel normal in this world that was entirely too big for them. It was a nice gesture, though it also meant that Isabelle was able to slam the door in Jack's face whenever she wanted.

Jack had his own mini house, which was nicknamed "the box." George had built this for Jack, and helped Jack decorate it. "The box" had a handle on the top to make it easy for the giants to carry it from one house to another, depending on where Jack was needed for the night. Jack sometimes slept on top of George, but he didn't have the same type of relationship with the other giants, and instead would return to the box each night after he was no longer needed.

Jack rubbed his arms. It was getting later in the season, and it was getting colder and colder each day. The giants were spending a lot of time out in the fields, and there was no way that any of the little people could make a fire. Thankfully, "the box" provided some warmth, especially with the door closed tight. Jack got up and looked out the giant window next to the table. Still no sign of them. He retreated into the box and lied down on his tiny bed.
