Hello. My name is Bill Sherman. I'm a cultural anthropologist at NYU, specializing in the study of African tribes and cultures. I also happen to be gay and love very tall men of color -- so it should be of no surprise that I have become obsessed with the history and culture of the Watusi.
I had gathered significant evidence to suggest that a long time ago, a select group of Tutsi tribesmen had relocated to an island off the coast of Somalia. For months I had been planning a trip to the region in the hopes of finding them. The Watusi are known to be the tallest people in the world. It has been said that these giants are born six feet tall. Men towering seven or eight feet are not uncommon. Because of their stature, they once ruled over the tiny pygmy people, who are nearly half their size. Legend has it, that an elite group of Tutsi tribesmen had grown to even greater heights. I allowed myself to fantasize that some of them might even tower close to ten feet tall! I have dreamed of traveling in search of them, with the hopes of actually walking among them....beholding with my own eyes these lean, dignified, and statuesque giants.
